I just bought a Walkman MP3 player model NWZ-E473. I cannot transfer audiobooks from Overdrive to the player; I get the message that the device certificate cannot.

Hello,

Are the WMA files copyright protected or are they DRM-protected.

The copyright protected WMA/WMV files cannot be played back. The Walkman player supports WMA digital rights management DRM files when transferred via the Windows Media Player software. DRM files are typically those that are purchased from online services. The unsupported DRM files may display on the portable player, but will not playback.

Make sure that the following conditions are met to playback the WMA files:

Bit rate: 32 to 192 kbps Supports variable bit rate VBR

Sampling frequency: 16, 22.05, 32, 44.1, 48 kHz Stereo

8, 11.025, 22.05, 32, 44.1 kHz Mono

Compatible with WM-DRM 10

Contact the source for more information regarding the specification of the WMA files.

If my post answers your question, please mark it as an Accepted Solution.

Thank you for your post.

I understand that the WMA audio books are not accepted from the library. Please note that 2012 and up Walkman players do not support playback of copy protected WMA files WM-DRM 10. Overdrive audio books are typically offered in WMA and MP3 format. To play audio books, the files will need to be in non-DRM WMA or MP3 audio format.

We cannot guarantee compatibility, but audio books checked out through a public library Web site and transferred to your portable player using their media service should be compatible and playback fine. If they do not playback, contact the source for more information about compatibility.

Above is the response I received directly from Sony support.

Doesn t make me happy.  By SandiscZipClip will play both.  Half the price and half the size.

You are running Windows 7 64 bit x64 or Windows Vista 64 bit and want to transfer music from your computer to your NetMD but you can t connect your MiniDisc.

Apr 25, 2011  I just got my mz-n510 out of storage and was thinking of playing around with it. This may be useful. Many thanks. Do you know if SimpleBurner will run on.
